The Positive Space Campaign is a campus wide awareness and visibility initiative to make UBC more welcoming to lesbian, gay, bisexual, two-spirit, trans and queer students, staff, faculty, alumni and allies in all our working, learning and living environments.
It aims to foster a welcoming atmosphere and inclusive, respectful dialogue on campus for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities by identifying spaces where sexual and gender diversity is supported and valued. Workshops are offered through the Equity and Inclusion Office at UBC Okanagan and Equity and Inclusion Office at UBC Vancouver.
The acronym LGBTTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, two-spirit, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual) is generally used by Positive Space Campaign. A plus sign (+) is added to the end in respect of the infinite variety of identities outside of, or not represented by this acronym.
